The WI is the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK, with 205,000 members. We play a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to us and to our communities. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends, especially if you are new to the area or have been meaning to get out and about a bit more!
Oake WI meets on the 4th Thursday of each month (except December) in the lounge at the hall at 7.30pm. We currently have 30 members and like to think of ourselves as a fairly ‘new look’ WI, with members’ ages spanning from 30 something to 90 something! Our meetings start with brief business matters (letters, notices, anouncements etc) followed by a speaker or activity covering a wide range of interests. Non WI members are always welcome, at a charge of £3.75 per meeting, and gentlemen are invited to join our ‘open’ meetings.
